After graduating from college, Jones turned professional. He played in several tournaments and won the Canadian Open in 1926. However, Jones soon decided to retire from professional golf and focus on his amateur career.

The Grand Slam

In 1930, Jones won the Grand Slam of golf, becoming the only person to ever win all four major championships in the same year. He won the US Open, the British Open, the US Amateur Championship, and the British Amateur Championship.

Jones's victory in the Grand Slam was a major accomplishment and helped to cement his legacy as one of the greatest golfers of all time. He was the first American to win the British Open and the first person to win all four major championships in a single year.

Later Career and Legacy

After winning the Grand Slam, Jones retired from competitive golf. He continued to play golf for recreation and designed several golf courses. Jones also served as the president of the US Golf Association from 1958 to 1960.

Jones died on December 18, 1971, at the age of 69. He is buried at Augusta National Golf Club.
