Early Life and Career

Rick Trickett was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, in 1951. He played offensive line at West Virginia University from 1970 to 1973. After graduating from West Virginia, Trickett began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater.

In 1976, Trickett was hired as the offensive line coach at Florida State University. He spent three seasons at Florida State before moving on to Auburn University in 1979. Trickett spent 11 seasons at Auburn, and his offensive lines helped the Tigers win three SEC championships and a national championship in 1983.

West Virginia University

In 1990, Trickett was hired as the head coach at West Virginia University. He spent six seasons at West Virginia, and his teams compiled a record of 38-27. Trickett's offensive lines were consistently ranked among the best in the nation, and he helped develop some of the top offensive linemen in the NFL, including Dan Mozes, Matt Rhule, and Chris Naeole.

Ohio State University

In 1996, Trickett was hired as the offensive line coach at Ohio State University. He spent 13 seasons at Ohio State, and his offensive lines helped the Buckeyes win four Big Ten championships and two national championships in 2002 and 2006. Trickett's offensive linemen were also consistently recognized as some of the best in the nation, and several of them went on to successful NFL careers, including Nick Mangold, Alex Boone, and Billy Price.
