Clinical Skills

They must also pass a national certification exam, such as the Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or the Certified Midwife (CM) exam.

In addition to their formal education, midwives must also complete a residency program. Residency programs are typically one to two years in length, and provide midwives with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of midwifery practice.
